Coaching for performance
Coaching has become increasingly recognised over the last ten years and is now regarded as the key skill for managers. There are many different coaching styles. In this programme you will focus on a hard style to help you handle difficult team members and a soft style to help you develop and encourage the committed team members.

By the end of this programme you will be able to:

  • Recognise and adjust your coaching style for different people types
  • Lead an effective coaching session
  • Use the "pull" model for motivation
  • Use the "push" model for handling poor performance
  • Use coaching to manage change.

Creative Problem Solving
Combining exercises and conceptual theories, this highly interactive programme will help you develop your skills in solving problems and making decisions – creatively. You will learn many of Edward de Bono's famous lateral thinking exercises, plus an 8 step Business School model for problem solving and decision making.

By the end of this programme you will be able to

  • Use lateral thinking to expand your creativity
  • Use 3 creative methods for lateral thinking
  • Use creative exercises for generating more and richer options
  • Make justifiable decisions using critical analysis
  • Manage a team decision-making process.

Managing People in Projects
The programme is built around the classic management steps of planning, organising, directing and controlling, plus key project concepts. However, planning tools are not the focus. Rather you will learn the people skills for managing projects successfully. You will then tackle a realistic project in a long experiential exercise called "Over the Bridge."

By the end of this programme you will be able to

  • Lead a project team at the opening and planning phase
  • Use 6 key steps to manage projects successfully
  • Handle poor information, changes and conflict in the action phase
  • Use people skills to solve problems and energise the team
  • Develop a culture of collaboration for successful projects.

Moving into Management
The programme takes a fresh look at the needs of newly appointed managers. You develop skills which will make you competent in the 4 management steps of planning, organising, directing and controlling. In role plays, and the experiential exercises "Battle at Fortress Hill" and "Bangkok Floods" you will have the chance to demonstrate your leadership skills and be assessed by an expert trainer.

By the end of this programme you will be able to

  • Lead a team through a planning phase
  • Lead a team through an action phase
  • Help your team to set SMART goals
  • Use an 8 step model to delegate effectively
  • Use sensitivity and firmness in giving feedback.

Performance Appraisal
Giving effective feedback and leading an effective performance appraisal are at the heart of performance management. You learn the key skills for engaging your interviewee in dialogue. You then use a 3 step model for structuring and controlling the interview. As usual there are lots of good DVD clips and stimulating role plays.

By the end of this programme you will be able to:

  • Prepare yourself and the candidate for the interview
  • Use rich questions and listen actively to engage in dialogue
  • Unpick a poor performance issue and obtain agreement for an action plan
  • Run the career coaching (development) part of the interview
  • Set goals for the following year.
